2016 Spring Top Jinxuan Oolong from Dong Ding
Cultivar: Jinxuan Oolong
Harvested : April 26th 2016
Origin: Feng Huang, Dong Ding area (700 m)
Process: Light oxidized, rolled Oolong, light roast.
These big, green dry leaves could be mistaken for High Mountain Oolong leaves! The color of the brew is light yellow and has a great transparency. The open leaves show some oxidation on the edge of the leaves and some insect bites.
The dry scents are very light. The light roast has the effect of keeping the fragrances of the leaves inside the leaves. Gently shaking the bag helps releasing the scents. They remind me of a garden in spring, gooseberries and meadow. Fresh and refined.
The cold scents are similar to high quality, fresh Japanese Sencha!
Very sweet and smooth at first. Then, slowly, a wonderful and powerful aftertaste builds up on the tongue and spreads to the rest of the palate. It lingers with elegance while providing freshness and a pure feeling in the mouth.
This is an excellent Jinxuan that produces very light aromas combined with a silky, sweet aftertaste. You almost can't believe it comes from Dong Ding and not from a higher mountain.
