Harvested by hand in the afternoon of July 28th, 2016

Origin: Songboling, Nantou county, Central Taiwan
Process: fully oxidized.

1. View

The leaves are long, whole and include golden tips. That's because the farmer instructed the pickers to only pick two fresh leaves and the bud.

The brew has a dark red color and good transparency.

2. Scents

Red, ripe fruity and fresh oxidation smells. There are also smells of humid and warm grass in the brew at this point, because the tea is so fresh right now.

3. Taste

The drying of these leaves was done in a special roaster with infrared function at 85 degrees Celcius for 6 hours. This slow and thorough drying has given the leaves a sweet and round taste. No need to add any sugar!

Conclusion: the summer season produces red teas that are strong in scents and taste. This one is made from a lesser known cultivar, picked by hand and carefully produced (under my supervision). It's a very good introduction to Taiwan's premium red teas.
