The shape of this teapot is named after Xi Shi, the first of 4 famous Chinese beauties. She lived in the 5th century BC and was sent to a prince so that he would neglect his governing duties. Her seduction was a success and this prince would soon be overthrown.

The lines of this classic Xishi teapot are therefore very round and feminine. The only part of the teapot that could symbolize masculinity (the spout) has been 'cut short'!
The lid prolongs the shape of the body and alludes to the most maternal part of a woman's body...

This teapot is made of high quality modern zhuni clay. The sound of the cover on the teapot indicates a high firing temperature. The craftmanship of this teapot is very good. The walls under the lid are long and slightly  bent inwards. The upside down handle is gracious and the large knob is full of character and easy to grab.

It has a flat filter with 7 small holes.

It is 30 to 20 years old.

The curvy shape and the high firing of this clay of this teapot makes it suitable for most types of Oolongs and sheng puerhs.

The seal under the teapot reads "China Yixing". Further, there are 2 characters under the lid: "Xiang Jun".
