Cultivar: Qingxin Oolong (ruanzhi Oolong)
Harvested by hand on April 25th, 2017
Origin: Pinglin, Wenshan, northern Taiwan
Process: green tea (dried in a tumbling oven)

The thin dry leaves testify that this green tea has been picked very young (even though the harvest date is late, but that's because this year's tea harvests were all late due to the climate). What's interesting is that the cultivar used here is qingxin Oolong. We are more used to taste these leaves with Baozhong, high mountain Oolong or Hungshui Oolong. This is a rare opportunity to experience these leaves processed as green tea.
The trick to brew this green tea well is to use fewer leaves than with an Oolong. For my testing and theses pictures, I only used 1.5 grams (instead of 3 grams usually for Oolong). But, I still recommend to use just boiled water and to preheat the tea vessel in advance.
The brew is of impeccable clarity. The scents are on a high lilac flowery note. And the taste is delicate and sweet with a wonderfully fresh aftertaste. It's light, sweet and fresh, a very fine Taiwan green tea!
