Gas fired, handcrafted porcelain jars with a celadon glaze by Michel François. The inside of the jars is glazed, but not the foot and not the bottom of the lid.
Michel François is a French ceramist who has his workshop in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK.
These small jars have a discreet charm and provide a bright spot on any Chaxi. They don't close tightly, but they manage to preserve the tea leaves' freshness and refine its aromas. The smartest use is short to mid term, from a few minutes to a couple of years. Storing tea leaves in porcelain has a refining and smoothing effect on the aromas. This is especially helpful with roasted Oolongs or jassid bitten Oolongs. However, even fresh high mountain Oolongs can be stored in these jars.
No two jars are exactly the same. They have little defects (a black spot or an tiny impurity under the glaze, an uneven color, ...) That's how you can determine that these cups are hand made. This also adds to their charm. Each piece is unique.
