Gas fired, handcrafted porcelain cups with a green celadon glaze with flared rim by Michel François. He's a French ceramist who has opened a workshop in Falmouth, Cornwall. He designed these cups for tea drinking for couples. Their size is a good fit to empty the content of a gaiwan or an Yixing teapot in 2 cups (instead several small cups). The kaolin porcelain used for these cups comes from New Zealand is of very high quality. The sound of the cups indicates a high firing temperature. And the glaze is very smooth to the touch and on the lip.
No two cups are exactly the same. They have little defects (a black spot or an tiny impurity under the glaze, an uneven roundness...) That's how you can determine that these cups are hand made.
