2020 Winter Ultimate Oriental Beauty from Hsin Chu
Cultivar: Qinxin Dapang
Harvested by hand: October 27th, 2020
Origin: Hsin Chu, Taiwan
Process: Jassid bitten buds, high oxidized, in stripes and light/medium roast. Competition brewing (3 grams, 6 minutes)
The dry leaves are small to medium. Most are white buds or black with some dark red leaves. The brew has a very clear and bright orange color. The open leaves are reddish. Their oxidation level is high, but a little bit lower than in summer.
The dry scents are quite light and have mostly wood and roasting smells. The brew, though, is very fruity and honey like. These honey aromas are particularly intense. This is beyond tea! It feels much more like a wonderful perfume with very intriguing and seducing features.
The tea is very sweet and pure. The scents are present in the aftertaste to my great delight.
Conclusion: This winter OB is a single batch of 3 kg only. Such a low volume for one day harvest shows just how special and rare this tea is. But rarity isn't enough. This Oriental Beauty Oolong really has the special aromas and intense honey and fruity fragrances that belong only to the very best OB. It's liquid gold!
