Cultivar: Qingxin Dapang
Harvested by hand: June 2021
Origin: Hsin Chu, Taiwan
Process: Jassid bitten buds, medium to high oxidation, striped and lightly roasted.
1. View
The leaves are a mix of small leaves and white buds. This year, there are a little bit more yellow leaves than before. The orange brew has a very good shine, clarity and transparency. The open leaves are quite small, part green, part red, reflecting a medium to high oxidation level. The leaves are flexible, not too much roasted, and show signs of jassid bites.
2. Scents
The dry leaves have a lighter scent in 2021. The brew has also lighter fruit and honey scents. The lack of rain this spring created perfect conditions for Oriental Beauty this summer season. The lack of rain also explains why the leaves didn't require much roast.
3. Taste
The brew tastes powerful, sweet with a long aftertaste. It's still has a slight edge, because it's young. This is a tea that can become smoother with time. And it's such a great value this year, that I recommend it wholeheartedly.
