Lapsang Souchong (aka ZhengShan XiaoZhong) is the first red tea (fully oxidized tea). Invented during the early Qing dynasty (1644-1911), this red tea is smoked with local pine wood that add a warm and deep smoky flavor to these leaves. In the 18th century, the kings and queens of Europe thoroughly enjoyed this tea, brewed in Blanc de Chine porcelain from De Hua, Fujian Province, China.

These leaves come from the birthplace of Lapsang Souchong. Organically grown, these leaves were processed in the same way as during the Qing dynasty and the maker still uses the local pine wood that adds its specific flavor to the tea.

Harvested by hand in summer 2019.
