2018 Winter Qingxin Oolong Da Yu Ling 93K
The emperor of High Mountain Oolong
Cultivar: Qingxin (ruanzhi) Oolong
Harvested by hand: October 17th, 2018
Origin: Da Yu Ling (2100 m), 93 K.
Process: Light oxidized and rolled Oolong
The dry leaves are relatively small, because they were harvested quite early and didn't include many leaves on the same stem. Some white tips are visible. The brew has great clarity and transparency with a very fresh yellow/green color. The open leaves have large tips, which confirms their high altitude. Differents colors show a diverse exposition to the sun.
The dry leaves smell like fresh lavender, grass! We find the same fine scents in the brew. The feeling is natural, elegant and intense.
The taste of this tea is coating the palate! It's sweet, pure, full of energy, buttery, intense, concentrated, long, refined, cooling, relaxing...
Conclusion: Da Yu Ling simply produces the best High mountain Oolongs. The power, sweetness and finesse of this winter batch is a good example of the DYL terroir.
