2018 Winter Qingxin Oolong Long Feng Xia
High mountain qi
Cultivar: Qingxin Oolong
Harvested by hand: on October 26th, 2018
Origin: Long Feng Xia, Shan Lin Xi (1600 m)
Process: Lightly oxidized, rolled Oolong
Green/blue dry leaves with white buds that are typical for winter harvests. The brew has a very light yellow hue and an excellent transparency. The leaves are green with very little oxidation and are quite big: very typical of high altitude Oolong.
The dry scents are very fresh and intoxicating. The brew is extremely flowery and refined. It comes close to Lishan! Even cold, the green fragrances persist.
The characteristic of the Long Feng Xia is its sweetness. It feels very mellow, but it also has a long aftertaste.
Conclusion: this high mountain Oolong from Shan Lin Xi is top quality in terms of flowery fragrances and sweet, long taste. The leaves are very concentrated and produce a very powerful brew with only 3 grams and 6 minutes brewing (the competition standard). I recommend not to use too many leaves. This Oolong is best appreciated light.
