2020 Spring Qingxin Oolong Da Yu Ling 104K
Cultivar: Qingxin Oolong
Harvested by hand: May 27th, 2020
Origin: Da Yu Ling (2580 m), 104 K.
Process: Light oxidized and rolled Oolong
The dry leaves are dark green and of varied sizes. The brew has great clarity and transparency with a very fresh yellow/green color. The open leaves are very big compared to the buds. They are thick, but flexible.
The dry leaves smell like fine, fresh spring flowers. In the brew, there are some peach notes, but these are less dominant than very fine and evanescent fresh fragrances.
The energy, the Cha Qi of this Oolong is amazing! It has a very long aftertaste that is further accentuated by a mineral taste.
Conclusion: Several Da Yu Ling plantations have been uprooted in recent years. This small plantation is still standing and appears to have avoided scrutiny thanks to its small size. It only produces 60 kg of Oolong per season (in spring and winter). So, it's really exceptional that we can have access to this excellent Oolong grown on one of the highest plantation in Taiwan!
