2021 Winter Qingxin Oolong Da Yu Ling 96K
Cultivar: Qingxin Oolong
Harvested by hand: October 10th, 2021
Origin: Da Yu Ling (2350 m), 96 K.
Process: Light oxidized and rolled Oolong
The dry leaves are dark green with white buds. The brew has great clarity and transparency. Its color is a little darker than the DYL 104K. The open leaves are thick and they display oxidation marks on the edges.
The dry leaves smell like fresh lavender and fresh flowers! The brew has very refined fragrances, but not as light as the DYL 104K.
The taste of this tea is powerful, thick and long. The thickness of the brew comes from new trees that have been added to the plantation.
Conclusion: The winter starts early in the Da Yu Ling region, because the elevation is so high that tea stops growing past mid October. Comparing this DYL 96K with the 104K show how 8 km of distance (and a different elevation) impact the aromas of the finest high mountain Oolong region in Taiwan!
