2018 Spring Qingxin Oolong Tsui Feng
Cultivar: Qingxin (ruanzhi) Oolong
Harvested by hand: May 2nd, 2018
Origin: Tsui Feng,翠峰 (1800-1900 m), Lishan area, Taiwan
Process: light oxidation, rolled, dried .
The leaves are very big and green. They produce a brew with a very bright yellow color. Shiny and transparent.
Lavender and flowery with notes of butter. Very fresh and bright.
Delicate and sweet at first. No bitterness or defects. There's a cooling freshness with this tea. This is a characteristic Oolongs from very high plantations. The aftertaste is pleasant and long.
Conclusion: the Tsui Feng mountain is often mistaken for Lishan, because it is located nearby and because its taste has a very similar elegance. With an elevation approaching 2000 meters, this is one of Taiwan's finest High mountain Oolongs. I chose this batch because it beat even Oolongs from Lishan!
