2018 Spring Qingxin Oolong Qilai Shan
Cultivar: Qingxin (ruanzhi) Oolong
Harvested by hand: May 13th, 2018
Origin: Qilai Shan (2050 m)
Process: Light oxidized and rolled Oolong, well dried.
The dry leaves are big. The brew is bright gold and very transparent. The open leaves are big and very thick.
Buttery and very fresh 'green' scents. Hints of marshmallow.
This year's taste is very thick and long lasting. It combines a good sweetness and the energy that comes from the rocky soil of Qilai. This gives this high mountain Oolong a very long aftertaste with a pleasing rock dryness.
Conclusion: This year's Qingxin Oolong from Qilai emphasizes the thick and rocky taste and aftertaste thanks for its mature leaves. Such a powerful tea can be brewed now for its fresh energy or kept to further age.
